CHECK LIST FOR CAMPOUTS

 

Gear doesn't have to be expensive! Our Troop has found that the boys take better care of their own gear and tents than they would if it were provided by the troop.  Following is a list of suggestions on how little you actually need.

     

ESSENTIAL PERSONAL ITEMS

 

____Class A Scout Uniform (must be worn while traveling)

 

____Rain Gear or poncho

 

____Canteen or Water Bottle (very important) no glass!!

 

____Flashlight (AA or small C size)

 

____Special Medication with instructions in zip-loc bag (give to leader)
Let us know about serious allergies and whether or not a bee sting kit is needed.

____Pack or Sports Bag
(good idea to put clothing in waterproof (trash) bags inside the pack)

 

____Sleeping Bag (rated down to 20 degrees)

The best advice is, if your son doesn't need it to stay alive, and you can't afford to lose it each time you send him on a campout, don't send it with him, until he gets experience, and can decide not only what he will use, but what he will not lose. Candy and snacks attract varmints, so don't pack them with personal gear (put in patrol box instead).
